The Great Escape

We knew it was bound to happen, we just didn't know when... After Wes went down for his Saturday afternoon nap Ben and I heard a door creak through the baby monitor. We looked at each other and said, "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?". I quickly and quietly walked up the stairs and as I turned down the hall I saw Wesley gently closing his bedroom door. When he swung around to come down the hall he saw me and stopped dead in his tracks. He had the funniest expression on his face. You could tell he wasn't sure how I was going to react. I smiled and asked him if he climbed out of his crib. He smiled back. I brought him downstairs to tell Ben the funny story before attempting to put him back in his crib a second time. He climbed out even quicker than the first time. The crib was then quickly converted to a toddler bed and Wes thinks he is so cool now. I'm sure he is kicking himself for not thinking of climbing out sooner. :)

Surprisingly, Wes has transitioned really well. We didn't know how we were going to make sure he actually slept and how to keep him from playing with his toys or just coming out of his room. Knock on wood, it hasn't been a problem yet. :) The picture above is how we found him when we checked on him before we went to bed Saturday night. His crib didn't come with a toddler bed siderail. On Sunday I picked him up one so that he can't fall out now. :)
